Julianne
This is a large graphite portrait of my close friend that demonstrates a range of values through interesting lighting and composition. Since this is my first time working with such a large size, I found that it was challenging to make sure the proportions are correct on a larger scale. Although time consuming, I discovered that constantly having a sharp pencil is important to thoroughly fill in values. The part I enjoyed the most was the folds of the clothing, as I was pushed to practice blending smoothly with blending tortillons, a tool that I have not previously used.
